Position

Join Canonical's Launchpad team and drive the future of collaborative open-source development tooling. This role is ideal for a motivated engineer with a passion for open-source software, Linux, and web services. Launchpad facilitates the management of open-source development projects, providing essential infrastructure for major projects like Ubuntu.

You will balance maintaining business-critical services while enhancing features, including expanding package building capabilities, improving user development flows, and modernizing the web UI. If you thrive on organization and continuous improvement, you’ll be a great fit.

Location: Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
Work Conditions: Full-time, Remote (candidates must be located within the EMEA region)
Travel: 2 to 4 times a year for internal and external events

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within and contribute to design, architecture, and feature selection across distributed teams
  • Write high-quality, API-first Python code with unit tests
  • Debug issues and deliver high-quality fixes
  • Review code produced by fellow engineers

Who You Are:

  • Passionate about technology and problem-solving
  • A strategic thinker who is curious and accountable
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field
  • Proficient in producing production-quality code, preferably in Python
  • Experienced in maintaining and improving large web applications
  • Familiar with PostgreSQL or other databases and data management
  • Interested in integration, infrastructure, and operations
  • Knowledgeable about Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform
  • Understanding of various software packaging systems, including Debian/Ubuntu packages

Language Requirements: Proficiency in English is essential.
