Position

Drive the future of collaborative open-source development tooling as part of the Launchpad team. This position is ideal for a motivated engineer passionate about open-source software, Linux, and web services. Launchpad is a mature platform for managing open-source development projects, providing essential development and collaboration infrastructure for major projects such as Ubuntu.

In this role, you will balance keeping business-critical services running while expanding our feature set. Responsibilities include:

  • Proactively collaborating on design, architecture, and feature selection for solutions across distributed teams.
  • Writing high-quality, API-first Python code with unit tests.
  • Debugging issues and producing high-quality fixes.
  • Reviewing code produced by other engineers.

Who You Are:

  • A technology enthusiast who enjoys working with talented individuals and solving interesting problems.
  • A strategic thinker who is curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable.
  • Someone who values soft skills and is passionate, enterprising, thoughtful, and self-motivated.
  • Holds a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar degree.
  • Proficient in delivering robust code to production, ideally in Python.
  • Experienced in maintaining and improving large and mature web applications.
  • Knowledgeable in databases, ORMs (PostgreSQL a plus), data management, and data modeling.
  • Interested in or experienced with integration, infrastructure, and operations.
  • Believes that robust security requires conscious efforts at every stage of delivery.
  • Familiar with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.
  • Has a solid understanding of various software packaging systems, including Debian/Ubuntu packages.

Location: Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote)

Work Conditions: Full-time, Remote with global travel 2 to 4 times a year for internal and external events.
