We are hiring a Software Architect for Canonical LXD and MicroCloud. Our goal is to simplify the process of creating clusters of compute using system containers or virtual machines. This position involves working on distributed systems, virtualisation, container technology, networking, and storage.
As a software architect, you will drive the architecture, design, and evolution of LXD and Canonical MicroCloud. LXD is a modern Golang system container and virtual machine orchestrator, and the engineering work spans the entire software stack, from low-level kernel work to high-level management REST API and CLI development.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture of LXD and MicroCloud.
- Mentor, develop, and advise colleagues in their career progression.
- Develop in Golang and C, and review code produced by engineers.
- Ensure product security and performance.
- Display technical leadership within Canonical and the community.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
- Experience with Golang and C programming languages.
- Knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure offerings, their APIs, and underlying technologies.
- Experience in storage, networking, virtualization, and container technologies.
- Familiarity with concurrent, distributed systems.
- Exceptional organizational skills, professionalism, and interpersonal abilities.
- Professional written and spoken English proficiency.
- Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
