Position

Canonical is building a comprehensive automation suite to provide multi-cloud and on-premise data solutions for the enterprise. The data platform team develops a full range of data stores and data technologies, spanning big data, NoSQL, cache-layer capabilities, and structured SQL engines.

This role will focus on the creation and automation of features of data platforms, ensuring fault-tolerant replication, TLS installation, and more. The position emphasizes collaboration within a distributed team, writing high-quality Python code, debugging issues, and interacting with upstream communities.

Work Conditions:

  • Fully remote working environment.
  • Global travel required for 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events.

Requirements:

  • Proven hands-on experience in software development using Python.
  • Experience in distributed systems.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.

Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Experience with data platform technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, OpenSearch, Kafka, Yugabyte, Trino, Superset, Atlas, Ranger, and Redis.
  • Familiarity with Linux systems administration and operations.
  • Experience with public or private cloud solutions like OpenStack.
  • Operating Kubernetes clusters, particularly for persistent data services.
