Position

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, specifically through the Ubuntu platform, which is widely adopted across various technologies, including public cloud, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. As a Software Engineer in L3 Support, you will engage in a dynamic role working with Linux-based infrastructure and applications, addressing various components of the tech stack such as bare metal, virtualization (KVM), containerization (Docker/LXC/LXD), storage (Ceph), and networking (OVS, OVN).

This role is ideal for technologists passionate about Linux and open source, providing the opportunity to work on critical issues affecting customers and the community. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting complex problems, developing bug fixes, and enhancing collaboration both with internal teams and upstream communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resolve complex customer issues related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes.
  • Maintain close relationships with Canonical's Field, Support, and product engineering teams.
  • Develop bug fixes and backport patches.
  • Review and provide feedback on code produced by other engineers.
  • Participate in team discussions to enhance processes and documentation.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Strong academic background in Computer Science, STEM or related fields.
  • Experience with Linux and open source software.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Go, C, or C++.
  • Willingness to learn and dive deep into challenging issues.
  • Openness to travel for internal events.
