About the Job:
Canonical's mission is to build a next-generation private cloud infrastructure, combining KVM, Ceph, and SDN technologies to create a functional data center scale cloud ideal for edge and core enterprise deployments.
We are hiring engineering managers with experience in high-quality microservice architectures and high-performance team leadership, who have a deep familiarity with Linux kernel, virtualization, storage, and networking. Our most effective engineers are fluent in all these layers and can anticipate the consequences of design and engineering choices in a complex distributed system.
As an engineering manager at Canonical, you will lead a team of remote engineers, focusing on developing talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development. You will also be responsible for setting and managing expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of remote engineers

  • Set and manage expectations with teams and stakeholders
  • Advocate and advance modern software development practices
  • Participate in code and architectural reviews
  • Engage with teams at Canonical, the open-source community, and partners

What We Are Looking For:

  • Understanding of modern Linux cloud computing technologies (networking, storage, containers, K8s)
  • Proven track record in developing and growing people
  • Commitment to delivering timely, high-quality software
  • Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar degree
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Experience programming in C and/or Go

Work Conditions:
Full-time, Remote with global travel for 4 to 6 weeks per year for internal and external events.
Location:
Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote position available in EMEA and the Americas)
Language Requirements:
Strong written and verbal technical communication skills are necessary.
