We are seeking a Software Support Engineer to engage in a dynamic engineering role involving Linux-based infrastructure and applications. This encompasses various layers of the stack, including bare metal, virtualization (KVM), containerization (Docker/LXC/LXD), storage (Ceph and Linux filesystems), networking (OVS, OVN), OpenStack, Kubernetes, and the open-source applications that run on these platforms. Key Responsibilities:
- Resolve complex customer issues related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes.
- Maintain close relationships with Canonical’s Field, Support, and Product Engineering teams.
- Participate in upstream communities, develop bug fixes, backport patches, and collaborate with upstream for inclusion.
- Review code written by other engineers and exercise good judgment in technical methods.
- Effectively prioritize tasks and manage time.
- Engage in team discussions aimed at improving processes, tools, and documentation.
- Maintain clear and concise technical communications.
- Work from home with occasional travel (up to 10% of work time) for team meetings, events, and conferences.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional academic record, preferably in Computer Science, STEM, or related fields.
- Experience with Linux and open-source software.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and tackle challenging issues.
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
