Position

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is heavily utilized in public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT initiatives. We are seeking a Software Support Engineer to work in a dynamic engineering role focused on Linux-based infrastructure and applications, covering all layers of the stack including virtualization, containerization, storage, networking, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and the open source applications in use by large enterprise customers. This role is an excellent opportunity for a technologist passionate about Linux and open source to build a career with Canonical and help ensure success for our customers and community. You will resolve complex customer problems, maintain close relationships with support and product engineering teams, contribute to upstream communities, develop bug fixes, and participate in team discussions for process improvement.

Location: Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote) Work Conditions: Full-time, remote work environment with travel internationally up to 10% for team meetings, events, and conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic track record in Computer Science, STEM, or similar.
  • Experience with Linux and open source software.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, C, or C++) on Linux.
  • Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • A love for technology and collaboration with talented peers.
  • Interest or willingness to learn about various technologies (Ubuntu Linux, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, etc.).

Language Requirements:
Strong communication skills in English are essential for this role.
