Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a distributed team of engineers.
  • Hire, coach, mentor, and provide feedback and career development guidance.
  • Manage and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) and training.
  • Support timely delivery of bug fixes and technical solutions.
  • Engage in customer interactions to uphold Canonical's standards.
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Advocate for modern software development practices.
  • Collaborate with other teams in the organization.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Professional software delivery experience using C, C++, Go, Python, or similar languages.
  • Passion for software development with leadership experience.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize complex problem resolutions.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Knowledge of debugging tools (e.g., GDB).
  • Commitment to testing methodologies and code quality.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both verbal and written).
  • Experience with Linux, preferably Ubuntu, and familiarity with Open Source Business Models.
  • People management experience in a support organization is a plus.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation, revisited annually.
  • Performance-driven annual bonus or commission.
  • Benefits include a distributed work environment, personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year, annual compensation review, recognition rewards, and holiday leave.
  • Maternity and paternity leave, and Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Opportunities for travel to new locations to meet colleagues.
