About
The Senior Cloud Engineer will be instrumental in designing, deploying, and optimizing sophisticated Azure cloud solutions. This role focuses on advanced automation, developing infrastructure as code, productizing cloud services for end-users, and optimizing cloud solutions by transitioning from legacy IaaS to modern PaaS environments. The candidate is expected to have in-depth knowledge and hands-on expertise across a wide range of Azure services and best practices, ensuring scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex, scalable, and secure Azure cloud architectures.
- Deploy and manage Azure infrastructure using advanced infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
- Develop and automate CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for efficient code deployment and infrastructure changes.
- Optimize cloud resources by transitioning from IaaS to PaaS, enhancing cost efficiency and performance.
- Productize cloud solutions to enable seamless availability and self-service for end-users across the business.
- Monitor and manage Azure infrastructure and services using advanced Azure tooling like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
- Implement and manage security best practices using Azure Security Center, Azure Defender, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and Azure Policy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather technical requirements and provide strategic cloud solutions.
Qualifications
Experience Level:
- 6-10 years of experience in cloud engineering or a similar role, with a strong track record of Azure-based architecture, automation, and cloud optimization.
Technical Skills & Qualifications:
- Azure Architecture & Services: Expert-level understanding of a broad range of Azure services, including App Services, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions, Virtual Networks (VNets), Application Gateways, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Cosmos DB. Proven experience in designing highly available, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
- Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) & Automation: Advanced skills in writing, deploying, and managing IaC using Terraform or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates. Expert scripting abilities in PowerShell, Python, or Bash for advanced automation of tasks, workflows, and cloud infrastructure. Deep knowledge of automation practices and tooling, with hands-on experience in building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar.
- Azure Networking & Security: Strong expertise in Azure networking concepts, including Virtual Network Peering, VPN gateways, ExpressRoute, Load Balancers, Azure Firewall, and DNS management. Advanced experience in implementing Azure AD (Entra ID) policies, RBAC, Conditional Access, and securing identities and endpoints in Azure. Knowledge of hybrid networking and security, including IPSec VPN, SSL certificates, and Azure Firewall policies.
- Containers & Microservices Architecture: Hands-on experience deploying and managing containerized applications using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Instances. Strong understanding of microservices architecture, container orchestration, and event-driven design patterns for scalable solutions.
- Monitoring, Optimization & Performance Tuning: Proficiency with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights for proactive infrastructure monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting. Ability to optimize performance, cost, and efficiency by analyzing metrics and making informed decisions to improve the overall cloud environment.
- Azure Storage & Data Management: Expertise in Azure storage options, including Azure Blob Storage, Azure Files, Azure Disks, and managing Storage Accounts. Experience with backup, disaster recovery strategies, and data replication for business continuity within Azure.
- Certifications: Preferred: Advanced Azure certifications such as AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert) and AZ-400 (Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer Expert). Additional certifications, such as AZ-104 (Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate), are highly advantageous.
