The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the network is reliable, secure, and capable of supporting the organization’s operations and growth. Core42 is the UAE’s national-scale enabler for cloud and generative AI, combining G42 Group’s expertise across multiple technology disciplines into a single platform for public sector and large enterprise transformations.
Responsibilities
- Engineering Core42 DC network (DCN) including optimizing traffic patterns, deploying resiliency and highly available solutions, optimizing deployment processes, efficient utilization of hardware resources, and cabling designs.
- Planning of network and network security optimization on a monthly basis.
- Serving as the final tier of resolution for L2 support, communicating with vendor's technical support.
- Providing L3 support through problem analysis as per defined SLA.
- Approval and creation of BOQ for network devices for the existing DC Network and cabling.
- Approval of configuration baseline templates for deployments as well as security hardening guides as per best practice.
- Revision of Cloud expansions HLD/LLD in Core42 environment including network hardware and design.
- Designing WAN/LAN scalable network solutions including switches, routers, firewalls, and network encryptors.
- Communicating with WAN service providers to provide optimal WAN architecture for Cloud or Client needs.
- Preparing and reviewing User Acceptance Test documents, assisting with complex tests (e.g., high availability tests between Cloud AZs).
- Planning complex change requests, maintenance windows, and deployments that include vital network traffic flows (e.g., WAN Block migration, ISP migration).
- Automating network tasks through scripting languages.
- Verifying overlay network services and components using software-defined network tools.
- Conducting overlay traffic flow analysis and documentation in the Core42 environment.
- Attending meetings with internal and external stakeholders to present Core42 solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field in technology.
- 7+ years of experience with deep expertise in designing, implementing, and managing private cloud stacks focusing on compute and virtualization technologies.
- Expert-level knowledge in core network technologies: routing and switching, QoS, overlay technologies (VXLAN, GRE).
- Expertise in planning, designing, implementation, and troubleshooting of routing protocols like OSPF & MP-BGP.
- Understanding of encryption protocols and suites [IPSEC, SSL VPN, MACSEC].
- Knowledge about HPC networking with a focus on Ethernet and understanding of InfiniBand principles.
- Experience in design and deployment of load balancer/WAF.
- Understanding of IP multicast concepts [PIM, IGMP].
- Deep understanding of software-defined networks including products such as OVS.
- Understanding of standards such as NIST and ISO and their applicability in networking environments.
- Experience in Linux, virtualization, and cloud computing is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience working with GPU-hardware and AI hardware accelerators is a plus.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Expert-level certification in the area of DCN is a plus.
- GCC Driving license is highly desirable.
