The role is responsible for day-to-day application service management and operations to ensure service availability, optimal performance, and security of systems including operating systems, and other related services. Application Operations Engineer will participate in system capacity evaluation and plan.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and coordinates the resolution of potential and actual application/service problems.
- Ensure that operational documentation for system is fit for purpose and current.
- Advise on the correct and effective use of the system.
- Review application/system software updates and identifies those that merit action.
- Use application/system management software and tools to collect logs and analyze it.
- Carry out agreed application operational procedures, including application configuration, installation, and maintenance.
- Use Application management tools to collect and report application performance statistics and error logs.
- Automate application tasks, processes, and deployments to the best possible ways.
- Monitor service component of the applications.
- Receive and respond to routine requests for support, and investigate in accordance with established procedures.
- Assist users in their work and issues.
- Perform application administration tasks and resolve issues.
- Assist in the investigation and resolution relating to integrations with the application to the extent possible.
- Provide knowledge transfer and training to other application services engineers.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications - A tertiary-level qualification from an internationally recognized institution in computer science or related subject area
Years & Nature of Experience
- Would have 3 to 5 years of equivalent experience where required competencies and experience have been demonstrated.
- An experienced professional who can deliver on difficult technical tasks.
- Has project implementation experience.
- Is self-sufficient at work and could be given small project responsibility.
- Has provided technical supervision to junior staff in the past.
