About the Job
The Senior Manager - Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining the company’s database systems using various tools such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. Key responsibilities include data back-up, performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring critical events, and documentation. The successful candidate will ensure that information is stored securely and is readily accessible to authorized personnel in the appropriate format.
Responsibilities
- Build database systems of high availability and quality tailored to each end user’s specialized role.
- Design and implement databases based on end users’ information needs and views.
- Define user access and enable data distribution to the right users promptly.
- Utilize high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data effectively.
- Minimize database downtime and adjust parameters to ensure fast query responses.
- Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training for users.
- Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards.
- Perform regular tests and evaluations to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
- Monitor database performance and implement necessary changes, including applying patches and updates.
Qualifications
- Preferred Qualifications: A tertiary-level qualification from an internationally recognized institution.
- Experience: 5 to 7 years of relevant experience demonstrating required competencies.
- Proven track record as a specialist individual contributor or team lead managing and delivering projects.
- Strong skills in team or technical supervision, with experience handling complex technical activities and larger clients or accounts.
