As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for advancing our development stack and ensuring scalability as we grow to millions of monthly active users across many countries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain robust APIs, taking responsibility from service design to the code that enhances performance.
- Ensure all services are healthy, monitored, automated, and designed to scale.
- Collaborate closely with other teams from the early stages of design through to resolving production issues.
- Support a wide range of products focusing on automation, availability, performance, and reliability, as well as assist mobile engineers and business intelligence teams during each sprint.
- Contribute to building an industry-leading platform that is relentlessly focused on innovation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in the analysis, design, coding, and implementation of next-generation web applications in Python and Django.
- 1+ years of experience in API-based architectures (e.g., SOA).
- Proven experience working on high-traffic and large-scale web products.
- Strong knowledge of web infrastructure, distributed systems, performance analysis, and search infrastructure.
- Familiarity with the complete software development cycle, from inception to deployment.
- Proficiency in free and open-source web application frameworks, especially Django.
- In-depth understanding of Python, including meta-classes, decorators, descriptors, list comprehensions, and multiple inheritance/mixins.
- Extensive knowledge of database management technologies, preferably MySQL or PostgreSQL, with an understanding of NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies, such as Kanban, Scrum, and XP.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities, capable of prioritizing tasks and adapting quickly in a rapidly changing environment.
