As a Sr. Specialist Database, you are responsible for managing and maintaining an organization's databases. Ensure data integrity, security, and availability by designing, implementing, and monitoring database systems. DBAs also optimize database performance, troubleshoot issues, and backup data for disaster recovery. Collaborate with other IT professionals to plan and implement database upgrades and enhancements to support the organization's needs and goals.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain database systems, such as MySQL, Postgres SQL Server, Oracle, Azure Cosmos.
- Create and manage database schemas, tables, and indexes to ensure data integrity and optimal performance.
- Automate all the implementation and operational activities of databases.
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal database operation.
- Implement security measures to protect databases from unauthorized access and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
- Backup and restore databases regularly to prevent data loss and ensure disaster recovery.
- Optimize database performance by fine-tuning queries, indexing strategies, and database configurations.
- Collaborate with software developers to design and implement database solutions that meet application requirements.
- Conduct database maintenance activities, such as patching, upgrading, and applying database performance tuning techniques.
- Provide technical support and guidance to users and assist with database-related issues.
- Participate in project and team meetings - interacting and collaborating with team members and other departments as appropriate.
- Estimate and document required work effort to develop, test and implement new technical processes/changes.
- Create technical documentation of implementation activities for management and other team members.
- Provide technical support and mentoring to other team members in order to foster professional development.
- Provide guidance, support, and reporting with other management members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in cloud and database administration.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, principles, and best practices.
- Strong working experience in automation and scripting in Azure, AWS cloud platforms is a must.
- Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
- Experience in database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Strong knowledge of database management systems, such as MySQL, Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle RAC, Azure Cosmos.
- Experience with database design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with database security principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with other IT professionals.
- Technically sound with strong communication and leadership skills.
- Relevant certifications, such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA).
