As a Customer Engineer for Apigee at Google, you will facilitate making the work of educational institutions, government agencies, and businesses more productive, mobile, and collaborative. You will assist fellow sales teams by problem-solving key technical issues for customers and liaise with product marketing and engineering teams to stay on top of industry trends and enhance Google Cloud products.
In this role, you will partner with technical sales teams as a subject matter expert in application integration, helping prospective and existing customers and partners understand the power of Google Cloud. You will develop creative cloud solutions and architectures to solve business challenges, engage in proofs of concepts, and troubleshoot technical questions and roadblocks. This role requires excellent technical, communication, and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities as well as understand key customer technical objections to develop strategies to resolve technical blockers.
- Share expertise on API management, application integration platforms, security, and other application modernization areas to support customer relationships.
- Guide prospects through the evaluation process, including technology advocacy, bid responses, product briefings, proof-of-concepts, and collaboration with product management.
- Work directly with Google Cloud products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments.
- Recommend integration strategies and enterprise architectures required for successful implementation on Google Cloud.
- Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as required, acting as a public advocate for Google Cloud.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role.
- Experience with application programming interfaces (APIs) and application integration technologies such as API management or API security.
- Experience engaging with and presenting to technical stakeholders and executive leaders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with modern application development, container orchestration systems, middleware technologies, and related platforms.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies, integration architecture patterns, security protocols, and API security technologies such as OAuth, mTLS, SAML, JWT, and SSO.
- Understanding of Google Cloud, multi-cloud, and hybrid-cloud strategies.
