About the Job
As a Data Governance, Metadata Lineage & Access Lead, you will play a pivotal role in the GSK data governance council, which is responsible for critical data-related decisions. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that reliable data is readily available to all staff while maintaining continuous accessibility, usability, and reliability. You will focus on effective data leverage while establishing and enforcing rules for data handling, implementing procedures that safeguard data integrity and privacy.
Your responsibilities will include driving data governance processes and standards by providing project leadership, planning, directing, and executing operations using approved governance management methodologies. This role will advance your career by allowing you to lead key initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, evaluate, and maintain updated metadata, lineage, and data access standards, templates, and procedural workflows.
  • Implement and oversee compliance with metadata, lineage, and data access protocols at regional and local market levels.
  • Regularly audit and assess data catalog systems and access permissions to ensure alignment with established standards.
  • Offer guidance to data stewards in adopting and utilizing metadata, lineage, and data access protocols effectively.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on outputs delivered by regional and local teams to ensure precision.
  • Manage data access rights through an RBAC matrix, maintaining logs of granted and revoked access permissions.
  • Actively participate in governance councils, contributing insights to resolve complex data issues and provide updates on data governance initiatives.

Job Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Management Information Systems).
  • 5+ years of experience in data lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of data governance and technical skills in DG tools (e.g., Collibra, Unity Catalogue, Atacama).
  • Understanding of technology architecture (Azure experience is a plus).
  • Strong leadership and influence to drive change among diverse stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive experience in project management, particularly in delivering complex IT projects at multiple levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in Azure environments and with Databricks.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Spark).
  • Proven track record of delivering data-driven solutions with a customer-first focus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including networking and teamwork capabilities, along with excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • A continuous desire to learn and share knowledge both internally and externally.
