As a Director of Engineering at Hungerstation, you’ll tackle high-impact challenges that make last-mile delivery efficient, affordable, and sustainable. Your work will directly improve experiences for riders, end customers, and vendors across Saudi Arabia. Each enhancement you contribute will help optimize delivery operations, supporting expansion into new areas like grocery and retail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Scale High-Performing Teams: Directly manage 3-6 engineering managers and oversee an organization of 30+ engineers, fostering a high-performance culture, clarity of expectations, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Define and Execute Strategic Vision: Develop and implement technical and team strategies that align with business objectives, ensuring your team delivers impactful and scalable solutions.
- Drive Business Impact Through Collaboration: Build and maintain strong partnerships with Product and Operations leaders to align on priorities, OKRs, and roadmaps, ensuring your team’s work directly contributes to business success.
- Promote a Culture of Transparency and Growth: Foster open communication, accountability, and continuous improvement by providing 360-degree feedback and sharing achievements and failures across the engineering community.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and Arabic, with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Previous experience working in the Saudi market and/or with start-ups.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading high-performing engineering teams, preferably within KSA-based technology start-ups.
- Proven track record of designing and delivering scalable products.
- Prior experience in building and managing complex systems.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Experience leading senior people (staff & principal engineers, senior managers) is a plus.
- Strong Computer Science fundamentals: algorithms, mathematics, academic background, and a basic understanding of data science, machine learning.
