Position

Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems for global enterprise and technology markets, known for its platform, Ubuntu. We are seeking a Senior Jira Software Engineer to manage the Atlassian stack at Canonical, including the administration, configuration, automation, and integration responsibilities. This role ensures high engineering quality, rigorous documentation practices, and effective stakeholder management.

You will be part of the Commercial Systems team, which integrates business systems at Canonical to ensure reliable data flows and automate business processes across the company. Responsibilities include managing the entire Atlassian Cloud ecosystem, designing processes and automation in Jira, implementing integrations between Jira and the data warehouse, and creating analytical dashboards to aid stakeholders.

Work Conditions: Full-time position, remote work with the ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events (up to two weeks long).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Atlassian Cloud ecosystem.
  • Design, document, and implement Jira processes and automation.
  • Create integrations between Jira and the data warehouse.
  • Develop analytical dashboards for data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and support teams globally.
  • Handle critical escalations and resolve them timely.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic track record.
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira as an administrator.
  • Familiarity with common Jira usage patterns across departments.
  • Software development experience in Python.
  • Professional written and spoken English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
  • Ability to collaborate remotely and stay organized in a distributed environment.

  • Perspective on process architecture.
  • Experience with complex cross-project automation.
