About the Job
As Director of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for building and leading our engineering teams within HungerStation. You will lead, support, and mentor Engineering Managers to become more effective leaders. Your role will involve facilitating organizational changes to sustainably scale the engineering organization, as well as building and growing the teams over the next year. You will deeply understand the business processes and participate in defining the roadmap for core Delivery Hero teams that are responsible for transmitting and delivering orders across the globe.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and ensuring the scalability of the systems you own while simplifying them.
- Incorporating best practices for data compliance, PII data protection, and security into our infrastructure, tools, products, processes, and organizational culture.
- Scaling recruitment efforts and defining criteria for sourcing talented candidates.
- Driving both quarterly and long-term objectives and key results with full responsibility for executing the OKRs.
- Championing best engineering practices and being a pragmatic voice in decision-making.
Requirements
- 8+ years of engineering experience, ideally 3+ years managing other managers.
- A strong engineering background with the ability to evaluate complex technical decisions.
- Experience managing high complexity or high-traffic projects or applications, particularly large distributed systems.
- Proven experience in strategy, vision, and long-term thinking.
- Skills in coaching, mentoring, and setting people up for success, alongside structured performance evaluations and review processes.
- A mindset compatible with continuous deployment, agile planning, cloud-based systems, experimentation, and testing.
- Experience with cloud deployments (Kubernetes, AWS, or GCP).
- Ability to adapt to change and find pragmatic solutions.
- Experience in setting up processes within an engineering team.
