Position

As a Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT), you will stage, set up, and perform hardware deployments. Your role will include troubleshooting and diagnostics on equipment and performing hardware decommissions for simple changes and refreshes while adhering to Standard Operating Procedures. This position offers an opportunity to deepen your understanding of Data Center processes, develop mentoring skills, and familiarize yourself with security and data management procedures, all contributing to your career growth.

You will play a key role in delivering the core infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure. The Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team emphasizes personal and professional development, providing training, growth opportunities, and professional certifications.

Our global infrastructure consists of over 200 Data Centers in 32 countries, supporting services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses. Sustainability and optimization are central to our data center operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting, identifying and replacing faulty components efficiently.
  • Conduct post-execution quality checks based on safety protocols and deployment standards.
  • Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes under minimal guidance.
  • Report and escalate incidents to appropriate management and specialists.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to peers in completing complex tasks.
  • Complete role-aligned training and contribute to a positive team environment through information sharing and collaboration.
  • Uphold service quality and take ownership of data center facilities.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with basic knowledge of computer hardware.
  • Experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Good written and spoken English.

Background Check Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft and customer security screening requirements, including a Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years' experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
