Microsoft maintains a global tax planning and compliance strategy that is administered and coordinated at the Microsoft Corporate level. The role of Stat & Tax for Middle East legal entities will take ownership of our statutory and tax responsibilities across assigned countries/entities and work closely with the Corporate Tax Team to align on Tax strategy. This role will engage across the Central, Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa (CEMA) Stat & Tax community. Responsibilities

Statutory Accounting Integrity and Accuracy
- Accountable for legal entity P&L and balance sheet integrity.
- Accountable for accurate statutory records and timely annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP, local GAAP, and local statutory matters across all statutory entities, including data center legal entities.
- Identify non-standard transactions (cross-charges, accruals, commission changes, etc.) and review their statutory implications before proceeding.
- Responsible for managing the statutory risk profile of the local subsidiary and escalating risks to Corp Accounting according to policy.
- Identify opportunities to standardize and automate statutory processes, reducing manual workloads and ensuring effective resource use.

Tax Compliance and Advisory
- Accountable for accurate and timely tax filings (when not in scope for the Tax Team).
- Accountable for tax payments and forecasting.
- Manage audits from local tax authorities and other government agencies (in conjunction with the Tax team).
- Responsible for managing the tax risk profile of the local subsidiary and escalating risks to the Tax team.
- Identify opportunities to standardize and automate tax processes, partnering with the International Tax Compliance team.

Stakeholder Management
- Ensure the best ROI from key contributors (including OneFinance, FinOps, Ops Finance, etc.) with high-level oversight of Stat & Tax work.
- Manage external auditor relationships and external advisor relationships related to statutory accounting and tax compliance.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field AND 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance.
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field AND 4+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) or equivalent certification.
- Experience with statutory laws, accounting policies, tax laws, particularly those relevant for multinational companies, such as transfer pricing and online business tax compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Arabic language fluency (reading/speaking) is a plus for engaging with local statutory authorities.
- Experience in handling outsourced partners and working with outsourcing models.
- Experience working in multinational complex organizations.
- Demonstrated people or program management capabilities managing remote, diverse, multi-cultural teams.
