About the Job:
The Postdoctoral Associate will be supervised by Professor Samreen Malik and will be part of a research team focusing on the development of human capital as well as climate and sustainable development. The role involves investigating topics such as the impact of air quality on student health, sleep patterns in relation to academic achievement, the adoption of water-saving technologies in low-income countries, and the effects of workplace air quality on productivity.
The Postdoctoral Associate will work as a co-author on Dr. Malik's projects and provide support in data analytics, data visualization, data management, coding and development, and research design. The position will involve collaboration with public and private partners in the UAE, facilitating meetings, promoting partnerships, and presenting research findings.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Advance research work through data analytics and analysis support
- Assist with data management and development
- Support researchers in data visualization
- Build relationships with UAE public and private entities
- Engage with students for senior thesis projects at graduate and undergraduate levels
Required Education:
- PhD in Economics, Engineering, Computational Science, Statistics, Computational Social Science, or equivalent.
Required Work and Related Experience:
- Understanding and translating researcher requirements into functional solutions.
- Experience with data science programming languages (STATA, Python, R).
- Data management and experience with big data.
- Familiarity with data visualization techniques.
- Experience in machine learning and AI.
- Professional experience in research environments.
Required Competencies:
- Strong programming skills in relevant languages (STATA, Python, R).
- Knowledge of scientific analysis, statistical methods, and research design.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools.
- Competency in data collection, organization, and cleansing.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical abilities.
Preferred Competencies:
- Knowledge of software source code control systems.
