We are looking to hire two research assistants to help us design and build novel systems and tools for decision-making support in the HuDa lab at New York University Abu Dhabi. The lab examines data and decision-making from a tooling and systems-building perspective. A successful candidate should be able to design and implement systems and tools, and demonstrate their efficacy through comparative performance evaluations or user studies. Candidates should be capable of working independently or as part of a team. Good coding practices and reproducible experimentation are essential, as we publicly share all our code and data artifacts. Regular status updates and technical one-on-ones are integral to our work culture. Successful candidates will present their work clearly and concisely and should be eager to publish their findings while meeting deadlines.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Experience and excellence in systems or tool building, algorithmic thinking, and research.
- Proficiency in programming, particularly in Python and C, along with familiarity with other frameworks.
- Comfort with declarative programming, SQL, and data management is highly desired.
- Completion of advanced courses or projects in systems, HCI, or AI/ML is preferred.
