Research Assistant in the Division of Science [Computer Science] - Dr. Riyadh Baghdadi

The Modern Compilers Lab in the Computer Science program at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a research assistant to work at the intersection of compilers and deep learning. Many leading companies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon are developing specialized programming frameworks to enable users to write simple, high-level code that runs efficiently across different hardware architectures. For instance, Google’s TensorFlow allows deep learning to be executed on various platforms without modifying the original code.

Our research team is developing a new programming framework called Tiramisu, which excels in performing advanced code optimizations that traditional frameworks struggle with. Tiramisu is designed to generate high-performing code that often surpasses that written by expert programmers for various hardware architectures, including multicore, GPUs, FPGAs, and distributed machines.

The project aims to enhance Tiramisu’s capabilities by adding support for automatic code optimization using machine learning and deep learning techniques. The end goal is to develop a compiler module that facilitates automatic selection of optimizations for unoptimized programs, ultimately benefiting Tiramisu's users, including partner companies and research labs.
