Position

The eBRAIN laboratory in the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Research Engineer position focused on research and development (R&D) of advanced machine learning (ML) models such as Transformers, Vision Transformers, and Large Language Models (LLMs), as well as other advanced deep learning models for vision-based applications. The lab is dedicated to real-world use cases across various domains including autonomous systems, robotics, and smart homes/cities, as well as their security.

The eBRAIN lab aims to build energy-efficient brain-inspired autonomous systems through comprehensive analysis and design methods that synergistically engage hardware, software, and system-level techniques. The successful applicants will engage in a large-scale project investigating novel methods for deploying advanced machine/deep learning models on resource-constrained embedded systems, as well as demonstrating these concepts in real-world applications like medical image analysis and autonomous vehicles.

Requirements:

  • Applicants should hold a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of ML, AI, deep neural networks (DNN), LLMs, multimodal LLMs, tinyML, and ML frameworks (such as PyTorch and Tensorflow) is essential.
  • Solid experience in practical ML system development is required.
  • Additional expertise in MLOps, secure computing, privacy-preserving ML, and ML security is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical, communication, and writing skills are needed.
  • A high motivation for world-class research and development in practical ML/AI systems is expected.
  • Candidates with strong industrial experience and/or publications in top-tier ML venues are preferred.
