We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our customer's Oracle database environments, ensuring high levels of performance, availability, and security. This involves proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning to support the customer's critical applications.
Please note that the job title on SITA's contract for this role will be Expert Service Operations, aligned with our internal career framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database systems (version 19c).
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize the performance of the databases, including query tuning and optimization.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Security Management: Implement and enforce database security policies, including user account management, data encryption, and auditing.
  • High Availability: Design and implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, including Data Guard, RAC, and ASM.
  • Database Patching and Upgrades: Plan and execute database patching and upgrades to maintain currency and supportability.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Capacity Planning: Monitor database storage and performance metrics to plan for future capacity needs.
  • Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain scripts for database management and automation tasks using shell scripting, PL/SQL, and other relevant tools.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other staff to support application development and deployment.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • At least 7 years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle Database architecture and components.
  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming.
  • Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and RMAN.
  • Familiarity with database monitoring tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
  • Strong understanding of operating systems (Linux, UNIX, Windows).
  • Knowledge of cloud database services (e.g., Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
