Steer Studios is on a mission to create a world-leading game studio in Saudi Arabia, producing high-quality games for international audiences. The studio aims to support Saudi Arabia's passionate gaming sector in developing homegrown intellectual property (IP) and positioning KSA as a global hub for gaming.
As part of the Steer Studios team, you will collaborate with top global gaming talents who have relocated to Riyadh, fostering an innovative and passionate work environment. We are looking for a talented and hands-on Lead Game Designer to join our team and drive the success of our hybrid casual mobile titles. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for elevating both the product and the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, detail, and supervise the work of Game Designers.
- Ensure innovative gameplay and experiences meet product needs and challenges.
- Support design, implementation, and balancing of core gameplay systems, live events, progression loops, and monetization features.
- Maintain clear, detailed, and actionable design documentation.
- Review game features to meet quality expectations in alignment with the Game Design Document (GDD).
- Iterate game design based on user feedback and player insights.
- Collaborate with Programmers, UX designers, and art/data teams to deliver impactful content and systems.
- Mentor and develop junior game designers and foster an experience-sharing environment.
- Assist production in understanding design capacities and prioritizing tasks.
Qualifications and Key Skills:
- Proven track record of delivering and operating successful Casual or Hybrid Casual mobile titles.
- Experience as a Lead Game Designer or Associate Lead Game Designer with at least one complete production cycle (from pre-production to live operation).
- Strong understanding of KPIs, monetization mechanics, and leveraging data for game design.
- Proficiency in Unity or Unreal and Excel for maintaining game design configurations.
- Leadership and mentoring experience; ability to cultivate a small design team and promote collaboration.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
- Extensive knowledge of Game Design principles and the mobile gaming landscape.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- A passionate gamer with an understanding of the industry, market, and target audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in game design or equivalent is preferred.
