Position
We are seeking a Senior 3D Artist who possesses a deep understanding and expertise in 3D pipelines for character, prop, and environment creation. You will work closely with the Lead Artist and Production team, producing 3D models that adhere to style guides optimized for mobile devices. In addition to creating high-quality art assets, you will mentor junior artists and occasionally supervise external teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality 3D art assets for characters, props, and environments.
- Develop both high and low-poly art assets using various techniques.
- Implement best practices in the 3D pipeline and collaborate with the Lead Artist to define the game's vision.
- Suggest improvements for the 3D pipeline and processes.
- Integrate art assets into Unity or other gaming engines, and address bugs related to modeling and texturing.
- Create rigs for props and small objects.
- Utilize knowledge of PBR rendering, texture atlases, and mesh animations.
- Ensure all work aligns with the project's direction and the game’s style guide.
- Build 3D asset libraries to enhance efficiency.
- Manage multiple projects with various artistic styles while under pressure.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for game ideas.
- Oversee vendor management tasks, providing feedback and follow-ups.
- Mentor junior team members as necessary.
Qualifications and Key Skills
- Expertise in 3D software such as Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.
- Extensive knowledge of 3D asset creation tools and pipelines.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a 3D Artist, with a proven track record of shipping over 3 games, including titles on mobile or console.
- Preference for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or College diploma (BFA or equivalent).
- Strong problem-solving skills and intuition in 3D tool creation.
- Proficient in Unity and other gaming engines, with experience across a range of devices from mobile to console.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, capable of teamwork and oversight.
- Excellent time and priority management skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to write clear documentation.
- A passionate gamer with meticulous attention to detail, both technically and artistically.
