About the Job: The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) is a publicly funded research institute located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. TII is home to a diverse community of leading scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and researchers from around the globe, focused on transforming complex problems into pioneering research and technology prototypes that advance society. The Artificial Intelligence Cross-Center Unit serves as the machine learning powerhouse of TII, working closely with other research centers to harness the full benefits of AI across various projects. This unit drives innovation through new computing paradigms, designing and delivering AI methodologies, technologies, solutions, and systems that tackle challenging issues in multiple sectors, including technology, healthcare, cybersecurity, and government. Work Conditions: On-site, Full-time. Specific Responsibilities: - Develop, implement, and optimize planning algorithms such as Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) for large language models (LLMs). - Conduct research and experiments on self-improving algorithms for LLMs. - Scale up reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms within a distributed system. - Apply RL solutions to reasoning tasks, such as automated theorem proving. - Document research, experiments, and code in a clear, organized manner for future reference and reproducibility. Necessary Knowledge and Experience: - Currently enrolled as a PhD student or in the final year of a Master’s program in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field. - Strong foundation in reinforcement learning with hands-on experience in implementing planning algorithms and familiarity with core RL concepts. - Experience with distributed systems, demonstrating the ability to build scalable, efficient models. - Good to have: First-author publications in top-tier machine learning conferences.
