Position Details

Minimum Required Qualifications
Specialty:

• Design review for concrete, steel, composite, post-tension, high-rise buildings, industrial buildings, and marine structures
• Conversant in International Codes
• Good technical reporting skills in English

Education:

• University Degree in Engineering / Post-graduate Degree

Training:

• International Standards like BS, AISC, ACI, IBC, etc.
• AutoCAD

Technical Knowledge:

• Familiar with relevant structural design software, techniques, and codes (IBC, ACI, UBC, ASTM, AISC, etc.) and local circulars
• Capable of conducting structural design reviews for buildings, including dynamic seismic design and designs pertaining to wind loads on cladding and facades according to pre-defined standards/codes
• Thorough knowledge of structural design of buildings, focusing on concrete, steel, and composite materials
• Knowledge of applicable standards of the country of the project is a plus
• Proficient in interpreting design drawings and documents
• Licensed by Dubai Municipality for structural design review of unlimited height
• Capable of handling discussions with clients and authorities professional concerning design review services
• Proficient in MS Office and Structural Engineering software

Experience:

• Minimum 15 years of experience in Structural Engineering
• CRPEP A grade license
• Candidate must be based in Bahrain

Responsibilities / Authorities / Accountabilities
Primary Functions:

• Perform various technical audits and control services including design review, specialized studies, expert studies, etc.
• Carry out technical audit, consultancy services, outsourcing, due diligence, and design review within the conformity assessment services framework; design appraisal being the most common mission of the engineer.
• Prepare Technical Reports
• Attend meetings and discussions with clients and authorities

Technical Expertise:

• Experienced in the design of concrete and steel structures
• Evaluating designs with team leader support utilizing 2D/3D available software

Core Functions Include:

• Types of Foundations/ Soil Excavations

• Concrete structures, Precast-Pre-stressed

• Steel structures, connections

• Façade systems

• Will work on specifications, analysis, calculations, and site inspections with support from the team leader:

  • Specifications: Concept study, Soil investigation report, Seismic report, General specifications of the Installation, Relevant Owner’s Specifications, Basic of design specification, Material general specifications
  • Analysis: Foundation analysis, seismic analysis, wind analysis, superstructure analysis
  • Calculations: Supporting calculation of member properties, Summary of loads, Load combinations, Stress calculations, and others as required
  • Conduct basic inspections for construction civil works, familiarizing with working procedures for material submittal review and quality assurance

• Prepare technical aspects of tenders, including scope of work, planning, and cost structure

• Participate in the execution of missions, alone or within a project team
• Liaise with clients, designers, and/or project managers
• Manage design review phases of projects as required
• Execute reporting on tasks and cost building
• Contribute to project reporting
