Dubai is a great place to work for a software engineer.
An experienced software engineer in Dubai earns around $105,662 a year, and senior specialists can command up to $110,853.
Furthermore, that salary is completely income tax-free.
Dubai is also a modern and dynamic city, with year round sunshine. Taken together, it's easy to see why Dubai is a popular destination for tech workers.
With a thriving jobs market, there are many potential employers in Dubai.
But what are the best tech companies to work for in Dubai?
In this article I list some of my favourite companies in the UAE.
For each, I highlight what they offer and why they are amongst the best companies in Dubai to work for.
Talabat is the leading on-demand food, grocery and retail delivery platform in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Launched back in 2004, it now operates across eight markets — five of the six GCC countries plus Egypt, Iraq and Jordan.
The company is part of the German delivery group Delivery Hero, giving Talabat access to a vast international network spanning 40+ countries. In December 2024 Talabat went a step further and listed on the Dubai Financial Market in the largest global technology IPO of the year — a sign of just how serious the company has become. This makes it amongst the best companies to work for in Dubai for expats.
Talabat are committed to XP (extreme programming), which means lean processes and continuous delivery.
The work culture emphasizes quality, speed and continuous improvement. If you like agile work environments Talabat is a good option.
Expect short feedback loops, small batch updates, for rapid learning and improvement.
Careem is building the Everything App for the greater Middle East. It's basically the Middle East's answer to Uber and Uber Eats. In fact it's a subsidiary of Uber.
Careem operates in over 70 cities across 10 countries, from Morocco to Pakistan.
Founded in 2012, they've since served over 50 million customers and helped 2.5 million captains earn a living.
Engineering at Careem places emphasis on building a scalable, efficient data platform with reusable components.
They also use modern big data tools and techniques such as Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and Apache Trino. As part of this they make contributions and collaborate with the open-source community.
The company also has a commitment to developing a wide array of innovative services. Building products in e-commerce, logistics, maps, identity, and fintech.
Noon is a major Middle East e-commerce platform — basically the Amazon of the region. It was founded in 2016 by Dubai businessman Mohamed Alabbar (the chairman behind Emaar and the Burj Khalifa) and is backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, with a significant operation in Dubai.
Noon built a full-fledged ecosystem of products and services within a few years, and momentum hasn't slowed: it raised a further $500 million from PIF-backed investors in late 2025 at a valuation near $10 billion, and is widely reported to be preparing for an IPO. Their aim is to become the undisputed market leader in the region.
Noon's core values emphasize speed, action, and originality. This means opportunities for hands-on problem solving - an environment where resourceful engineers thrive.
If you like fast-paced settings and action, Noon could be a good option for you. The company's dedication to innovation and growth make it a good place to start your career.

ByteDance is the technology company behind TikTok, CapCut and a string of other products used by well over a billion people worldwide. Its regional hub for the Middle East is based right here in Dubai.
What makes ByteDance interesting for engineers is that the Dubai office isn't just a sales outpost. Alongside the commercial teams it runs genuine backend engineering, and houses solutions architects for BytePlus — ByteDance's enterprise AI and cloud platform. That means you can work on large-scale systems and applied AI without leaving the UAE.
ByteDance is famous for the engineering behind its recommendation systems — some of the most sophisticated machine learning operating at scale anywhere in the world.
For an engineer in Dubai, getting exposure to that calibre of problem is rare. The BytePlus side in particular lets you work on applied AI and cloud infrastructure for enterprise customers across the region.
If you want to work on hard, high-scale problems and care about modern AI, ByteDance is one of the most exciting options in the city.
Revolut is one of the world's best-known fintech companies, building an all-in-one "super app" that spans banking, cards, currency exchange, stock trading and crypto. As it expands across the UAE, it has been growing its presence and hiring in Dubai.
Revolut moves fast, and that shows in the breadth of engineering it does. It isn't just banking apps — there are teams working on crypto and blockchain, data platforms, and machine learning (right up to a Head of AI Engineering and deep-learning voice work).
For engineers who like ownership and a high bar, Revolut is a great fit. The pace is intense, but you'll learn a lot and work alongside genuinely strong people.
If you enjoy fintech and want a modern stack with real autonomy, Revolut is well worth a look.
Kraken is one of the largest and longest-running cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. It runs a regulated regional hub in Dubai under the emirate's virtual-asset framework (VARA), making it one of the more serious crypto employers with a real UAE footing.
Kraken is a great option for engineers who want to work on hard distributed-systems problems. The heavy use of Rust across both core and product engineering is the sign of a team that cares about performance and correctness.
It's also a good fit if you value flexibility — Kraken's culture is remote-first and globally distributed, so you get the upside of a Dubai base with the freedom of remote work.
If crypto, onchain systems or systems programming excite you, Kraken is one of the coolest places to do that kind of work from the UAE.
