For Serious Job Seekers Only

Firstly, let me start by saying I've built Jobseeker Profiles to help those who are seriously committed to working in the technology sector in the Middle East.

Any hiring manager will tell you that they get thousands of applications from people who have clearly not read the job description and are just applying for any job they come across.

That's not what Jobseeker Profiles are about.

I built this to help people who have thought carefully about the career they want to have and have crafted a thoughtful Jobseeker Profile that communicates their achievements and ambitions.

How Do Jobseeker Profiles Work?

It's quite simple:

    1. You complete your profile.
    1. We'll review it.
    1. Once approved, employers will be able to see it on the site here.

Employers cannot see your personally identifiable information, and your avatar will appear blurred to them.

Instead, they will see your headline bio, work category, and skills—more than enough for them to judge if you might be a good candidate for a role they are trying to fill.

If the employer likes what they see, they can request to contact you, at which point you'll receive a message from me (sam@zerotaxjobs.com – whitelist it!) asking permission to put you in touch.

If you accept, you'll be free to talk directly to the employer or recruiter.

Getting Approved

I will be reviewing each profile to ensure high standards and a great experience for employers and jobseekers alike.

This means filling out your bio and headline according to this guide.

❌ Profiles that include personally identifiable information in the bio or headline will be rejected.

Personally identifiable information includes:

  • Your name
  • Social media profiles
  • Repositories
  • Weblinks
  • Anything else that makes it possible to personally identify you.

✅ We have sections specifically where you can list this information—use them.

Write Your Profile With a Career in Mind

One of the biggest mistakes I see is when a jobseeker tries to generalize and say they can do a bit of everything.

Even if it's true, it's not going to read well for an employer.

Think of it from their point of view...

They have a business problem they want to solve, and they are looking for an expert who can do it.

Naturally, they are going to be most interested in people who are completely dedicated to that problem and know it inside out.

You need to write as if you are that person, or you're not going to get anywhere.

If you don’t already have a specific career in mind, take a moment to decide.

Once you know the specific career you are going after, filling out your profile should be very easy.

How to Write an Excellent Headline Section

Employers will be looking through hundreds of candidates.

The easiest way for them to spot you is to write a solid headline that gives them a clear overview of who you are in a split second.

Recommended Headline Format:

Role | Experience/Proficiency Level | Specialization / Key Strengths

Examples Using Experience Levels:

Full-Stack Developer | 10+ Years Experience | React, Node.js, AWS
Data Scientist | 7+ Years Experience | Big Data & Predictive Analytics
Backend Developer | 4+ Years in Java & Spring Boot | High-Performance APIs

If you don't have a lot of experience, you are better off putting a proficiency level to highlight something you are exceptionally talented in.

Examples Using Proficiency levels:

DevOps Engineer | **Certified Kubernetes Expert** | CI/CD Automation
Frontend Developer | **Expert in CSS & JavaScript** | Pixel-Perfect UI Design
Cloud Engineer | **AWS & Azure Certified** | Scalable Infrastructure Solutions

There are a lot of job seekers who think they need to cram everything into their headline.. don't do it!

Remember, employers aren’t daft—they don’t expect your headline to be a perfect job description match.

They are looking for overlap. If a few things in the headline fit, you bet they are going to want to click on your profile and read more about you.

How to Write an Effective Bio for Your Profile

This is where employers find out more about you.

It's where you tell your professional story in a way that is engaging, structured, and valuable to hiring managers and recruiters.

Remember hiring managers don't have lot of time and that's why we need to make it easy for them to read it.

That means keeping it concise, well-organized, and results-focused.

This is the structure I recommend:

1. Opening Summary (2-3 sentences)

Start with a strong, engaging introduction that highlights who you are, your expertise, and what makes you stand out.

Example:
"I am a results-driven Full-Stack Developer with over 10 years of experience building scalable web applications. Passionate about creating clean, efficient code, I specialize in React, Node.js, and AWS to deliver high-performance solutions. I thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments where innovation and problem-solving are key."

2. Core Skills & Expertise (Bullet Points or Short Paragraph)

Option A: Bullet Points
Highlight your key technical and soft skills in a way that’s easy to scan. I recommend grouping skills, like in the exmaple below this makes it much more scannable for recruiters.

Example Format (Bullet Points):

  • Front-End: React, TypeScript, Next.js
  • Back-End: Node.js, Express, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
  • Cloud & DevOps: AWS (Lambda, S3, DynamoDB), Docker, CI/CD
  • Other: Agile methodologies, TDD, mentoring junior developers

Option B: Short Paragraph
Alternatively, you can use a short paragraph:

Example Format (Paragraph):
"My core expertise includes React, Node.js, and AWS, with a strong focus on writing maintainable, scalable code. I have extensive experience working in Agile teams, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and mentoring junior developers to help them grow."

3. Work Experience & Achievements (3-4 Key Highlights)

Remember that this isn't actually a resume, you'll have a chance to send that when you connect with the employer.

That's why the idea here is to highlight key accomplishments with measurable impact, rather than just listing work experience.

Example:

  • Led the migration of a legacy system to a modern microservices architecture, improving app performance by 40%.
  • Developed a real-time analytics dashboard using React and Node.js, reducing data processing time by 60%.
  • Spearheaded the adoption of serverless AWS architecture, cutting infrastructure costs by 30%.

Notice: The use of numbers and metrics to show impact - you should do this too!

4. What You’re Looking For (1-2 Sentences)

End with a brief statement about your career goals and the kind of opportunities you're seeking.

Example:
"I’m currently looking for a senior full-stack role where I can contribute to impactful projects and help drive technical innovation. I'm especially interested in companies focused on scalable architecture, AI-driven applications, and cloud-based solutions."

Selecting Work Categories and Skills

Select categories where you have significant work experience.

These tags will be used to allow employers to search and filter for candidates who have specific skills or work types.

If you feel some categories or skills are missing from the list please sam@zerotaxjobs.com and I will consider them.

How Does the Visibility Setting Work?

I recommend setting your profile to "Actively Looking" this allows your profile to appear on the public homepage and be indexed.

Use the "Open to Offers" option if you don't want to appear on the public home page, but want to allow logged in employers to find you.

Use "Invisible" if you don't want your profile to appear to anyone but you.

Feedback

I've designed the Jobseeker Profile system to be lean and effective.

I have many ideas to develop it further, but I'd love your feedback!
