About the Role:
The company is seeking an experienced and motivated Development Engineer Level 2 to join Engineering Technical Services department.
You will provide timely, accurate and compliant engineering support for day-to-day fleet operations under the direction of the Manager - Technical Services. The role supports continuous airworthiness, aircraft availability, dispatch reliability and safe recovery from technical disruptions by assessing defects, coordinating technical solutions and preparing controlled engineering documentation. The position works closely with the Engineering Operations Centre, Line, Light and Heavy Maintenance, Fleet Engineering, Reliability, Supply Chain, OEMs, MROs and approved Design Organization providers. It also contributes to proactive defect management, technical investigations and predictive maintenance activities to reduce repeat defects and unscheduled maintenance events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational engineering support in accordance with approved Technical Services processes, procedures, authorizations, and assigned shift/on-call arrangements.
  • Act as the Technical Services focal point for assigned aircraft defects, technical incidents, delays, and operational disruptions. Review technical logs, maintenance findings, fault messages, defect history, troubleshooting results, and approved maintenance data to determine the next safe and compliant action.
  • Provide technical guidance to Line, Light, and Heavy Maintenance within approved data, procedures, and authorization limits. Support effective shift handovers, attend assigned operational meetings, provide engineering status updates, and close assigned actions on time.
  • Maintain CRM cases, technical records, action logs, and correspondence to ensure a complete, accurate, and traceable engineering decision record.
  • Support Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events from initial assessment through recovery and closure under the direction of the Manager - Technical Services. Gather required technical information and coordinate with OEMs, MROs, vendors, field service representatives, and approved Design Organizations.
  • Evaluate recovery options against approved maintenance data, airworthiness requirements, available resources, operational impact, and compliance constraints. Monitor external support and escalate delays, ambiguities, or risks affecting recovery.
  • Support extended AOG events by maintaining structured action plans, documenting decisions, clarifying ownership, communicating updates, and completing post-event reviews and recommendations.
  • Monitor deferred defects and ensure compliance with MEL, CDL, maintenance program, regulatory, and company requirements. Escalate concerns related to safety, compliance, dispatch reliability, or rectification opportunities.
  • Support the assessment and preparation of operational concessions, engineering instructions, and approvals where authorized. Ensure limitations, controls, procedures, and rectification plans are clearly communicated and recorded.
  • Ensure deferred-defect extensions, deviations, or alternative actions are only recommended or accepted when supported by approved data and required authority.
  • Prepare and process engineering documents, including Service Work Requests, Engineering Approvals, technical instructions, concession packages, and investigation reports, using current approved data and verified applicability.
  • Produce clear technical documentation defining the issue, engineering basis, required actions, acceptance criteria, documentation requirements, and follow-up monitoring. Ensure damage reports and Design Organization requests contain complete and accurate information.
  • Review OEM and Design Organization outputs for applicability, completeness, technical accuracy, limitations, and implementation requirements. Maintain full traceability and protect controlled technical information in accordance with retention requirements.
  • Monitor defect trends, repeat events, maintenance findings, component removals, and operational disruptions to identify reliability concerns. Utilize approved predictive maintenance and aircraft health-monitoring tools where authorized.
  • Differentiate actionable predictive alerts from inconclusive indications, document engineering rationale, support proactive maintenance actions, and contribute to reliability improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and appropriately to stakeholders. Coordinate with internal departments and external providers, ensure timely closure of technical queries, escalate significant issues, and provide consistent status updates through approved channels.
  • Provide technical recommendations and coordinate actions within delegated authority, approved procedures, and current technical data. Do not approve activities beyond authorized limits.
  • Immediately escalate unsafe conditions, compliance concerns, conflicting instructions, configuration-control issues, overdue limitations, operational risks, delayed external responses, or risks to recovery milestones. Ensure formal handover of unresolved items.
  • Utilize non-critical periods to progress reports, investigations, records reviews, procedures, and backlog activities. Support continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and enhancement of Technical Services processes and tools.
  • Support coaching and development of junior engineers, Qatari National Developees, and new team members. Promote a collaborative, accountable, and safety-focused environment while highlighting resource or competency constraints.

About You

  • Bachelor's Degree (B. Eng., BSc in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics of Aeronautical Engineering) or Equivalent OR Holder of ICAO Type Il License with minimum 4 years of job-related experience
  • Job related experience of airworthiness/reliability/technical support engineer role in a continuing airworthiness maintenance organization of a reputed airline
  • Good Knowledge of aircraft systems/power plant/structures preferably training on one or several types of aircraft operated by the company
  • Experience in using Airbus Technical Request and Boeing Service Request applications
  • Good working knowledge of company policies, procedures, scope of capability and limitations
