Electrical Commissioning Engineer

About the Role
This position involves the comprehensive review of electrical systems related to low voltage (LV) panels, distribution boards, generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), earthing, and lighting systems. The successful candidate will play an integral role in preparing detailed commissioning plans and coordinating all related activities, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical drawings, specifications, approved test procedures, and installation readiness for LV panels, distribution boards, generators, UPS, earthing, and lighting systems.
• Prepare commissioning plans, method statements, inspection checklists, and testing schedules in coordination with construction activities.
• Perform or supervise electrical tests, verify equipment operation and approved protection settings, and test interlocks, changeover sequences, and backup power functionality.
• Coordinate testing and consultant witnessing with contractors and specialist vendors, ensuring safe isolation, permit compliance, and closure of identified defects.
• Compile test results and commissioning reports, maintain completion records, and support energisation approvals and final project handover.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Relevant electrical testing and commissioning experience on construction or building services projects.
• Practical knowledge of LV distribution, generators, UPS, earthing, lighting, protection systems, and electrical test instruments.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and test results, prepare technical reports, and follow electrical safety procedures.
