Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain irrigation networks, pumping stations, and associated piping systems across assigned sites in Muscat.
- Plan preventive maintenance for pumps, valves, controllers, filters, and pipelines, then track completion and close-out.
- Diagnose faults across water distribution systems, isolate causes quickly, and restore service with safe temporary measures where needed.
- Execute corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and pipework, coordinating shutdowns to minimize disruption to irrigation schedules.
- Oversee installation works for new lines or modifications, including tie-ins, valve chambers, thrust blocks, and supports.
- Lead testing and commissioning activities such as pressure testing, flushing, disinfection where applicable, and functional checks of valves and pumps.
- Review drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to confirm materials, sizes, routing, and installation details before execution.
- Inspect site works for workmanship and compliance with approved drawings, method statements, and relevant standards for water networks.
- Maintain accurate records including maintenance logs, test results, as-built mark-ups, and asset registers for irrigation and piping equipment.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractors for spares procurement, repairs, replacements, and specialist support for pumps or control equipment.
- Investigate recurring failures or performance issues such as low pressure or uneven coverage, then recommend practical corrective actions.
Qualifications
- 5 to 8 years of experience in irrigation networks and associated piping systems within landscaping, infrastructure, utilities, or public-realm projects.
- Relevant Engineering qualification (for example, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering).
- Hands-on experience operating and maintaining irrigation systems including pumps, valves, pipelines, and water distribution equipment.
- Proven capability in installation supervision plus testing and commissioning of irrigation or water piping works.
- Strong troubleshooting skills covering hydraulic performance issues, leaks, pump faults, and valve or line failures.
- Experience delivering preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for mechanical equipment and pipe networks.
- Ability to review drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to support site execution and maintenance decisions.
