These engineers will challenge the team to enhance security practices through activities like threat modeling, architecture reviews, and the application of static analysis tools. Responsibilities include development of security features, vulnerability management, and collaboration with teams and partners in the open source community. The role also involves contributing to various products that focus on security, handling security responses for the Ubuntu operating system, and requires proficiency in multiple programming languages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define, implement, and document new security features.
- Lead security-focused initiatives within a product engineering team.
- Analyze, fix, and test vulnerabilities in open source software.
- Audit and analyze source code for vulnerabilities.
- Work with external partners to develop benchmarks for security compliance.
- Stay up to date with trends in the security industry and develop new software capabilities.
Requirements:
- An exceptional academic track record.
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM-related fields.
- Thorough understanding of common security vulnerabilities.
- Familiarity with modern software engineering techniques and open source development.
- Proficiency in one or more languages: C, C++, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, or JavaScript/Typescript.
- Professional written and spoken English.
- Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
Optional Skills:
- Experience with security certifications and knowledge of FIPS and/or Common Criteria.
- Familiarity with Linux kernel and cryptographic modules such as OpenSSL.
