Senior Electrical Engineer

About the Role
In this exciting position as a Senior Electrical Engineer based in Qatar, you will have the opportunity to thrive within a dynamic team while playing a crucial role in supporting project managers. You will oversee electrical design and engineering activities, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards while managing end-to-end electrical solutions for various development projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing technical support and input on electrical disciplines to project managers and teams.
• Planning and organizing the work of consultant design team members to ensure quality performance within project parameters.
• Managing comprehensive engineering solutions related to electrical aspects of development projects.
• Ensuring electrical designs and project drawings meet local regulations and international safety standards.
• Aligning project work with defined business objectives consistent with the company's mission.
• Monitoring and supervising activities concerning electrical design.
• Reporting on project progress, status, and changes while ensuring consultant compliance with standards.

Engineering and Technical Support

• Conducting site surveys and commissioning to ensure compliance with required standards.
• Implementing local electrical projects in line with approved design criteria.
• Assisting in developing scopes of work (SOW), reviewing drawings, and conducting site visits.
• Establishing review processes, technical standards, and delivery requirements for electrical engineering.
• Reviewing designs, calculations, reports, drawings, specifications, and engineering submissions.
• Supporting private developers on electrical network issues and load requirements in accordance with regulations.
• Maintaining knowledge of and effectively utilizing building permit systems.

Managing Contractor / Consultant

• Reviewing designs at various project stages and providing recommendations for amendments.
• Conducting due diligence on technical service providers to recommend appropriate consultants and contractors.
• Supporting technical analysis of tender bids for electrical works.
• Monitoring project progress to ensure compliance with specifications and approved standards.
• Validating consultant proposals and advising on recommendations for appointments.
• Collaborating with consultants to ensure compliance with local regulations and safety standards.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from a recognized university.
• 8+ years of progressive professional experience in an engineering project management role, ideally within a respected developer, consultancy, or contracting firm.
• Familiarity with electrical project management tasks, including design coordination and technical support on-site.
• Knowledge of electrical infrastructure requirements in Qatar/GCC.
• Strong understanding of electrical standards, codes, and regulations.
• Proficiency in CAD and typical engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Office).
• Valid MME / MMUP registration.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or chartered professional engineering registration (PE, CEng) are preferred.
• Strong technical competency in electrical design and construction within building and infrastructure projects.
• Ability to effectively engage and influence senior engineers, consultants, and other departments.
• Experience in multicultural environments and leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Assertive decision-making skills with a focus on driving solutions and resolving technical issues.
