This opportunity is designed for software developers, tech founders, engineering teams, and code owners worldwide to monetize their existing software repositories through a licensing arrangement. Submissions are welcome from individuals or organizations with ownership of codebases that may include:
- Abandoned startups and discontinued products with substantial codebases.
- Personal and side projects that are no longer actively maintained.
- Internal tools, utilities, and automation solutions developed for personal business use.
- Previous SaaS products, applications, and platforms that are no longer commercially active.
- Other original software repositories with clear ownership and licensing rights.
Projects do not need to have been commercially successful or currently maintained to be considered for this opportunity.
How It Works
- Submit your repository for an initial assessment of its potential licensing value.
- Receive an evaluation based on the codebase and applicable acceptance criteria.
- Explore licensing opportunities if your repository qualifies.
- Get compensated according to the agreed licensing terms if a transaction is completed.
This evaluation and licensing process is structured to help code owners understand the potential value of their repositories without needing to engage in a traditional development contract.
Compensation
For standard non-exclusive licensing, the current reference rates are:
- $100 per 1M source-code tokens
- $40 per 1M Git-history tokens
Each repository will be assessed individually, and an estimated value will be provided for review before any commitment to move forward.
Requirements
- Software development experience or ownership of an existing software product, application, or repository.
- Full ownership or legal rights to license the submitted source code.
- Access to original code repositories that may include discontinued products, abandoned projects, internal tools, or independently developed software.
- Code must not include third-party materials that are not permissible for sublicensing.
