The position provides technical leadership throughout the commissioning lifecycle, overseeing system completion planning, testing, preservation, verification, and performance validation to ensure facilities are ready for safe and reliable operation. The Senior Commissioning Engineer plays a crucial role in driving the successful delivery of project objectives through effective coordination of multidisciplinary teams, proactive risk management, and adherence to schedule, cost, quality, and safety targets, ensuring a seamless transition from project execution to operational readiness.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, testing, and handover activities.
- Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and operations stakeholders to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Oversee system completion planning and performance validation.
- Manage risks proactively and ensure adherence to schedule, cost, quality, and safety targets.
- Ensure a smooth transition from project execution to operational readiness.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum 15 years' oil & gas industry experience, including 10 years in process commissioning, start-up, and operations readiness for onshore and offshore facilities.
- Proven experience in pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, testing, and handover of major capital projects.
- Hands-on experience with Completions Management Systems (CMS) and systems turnover processes.
- Experience conducting or witnessing FAT, SAT, and performance testing of process systems and equipment.
- Practical knowledge of HAZOP, HAZID, SIMOPS, and commissioning risk management.
- Strong understanding of offshore production facilities and associated process systems.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced project environments and deliver results under pressure.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized University.
- Chartered Engineer status is preferable.
- BOSIET/FOET and CA-EBS certification preferred.
