Join our Cloud Services team, where we offer state-of-the-art technologies designed to seamlessly integrate control over datacentres, networks, and private cloud environments. Focusing on agility and cost-efficiency through automation, our services ensure optimal performance and resource utilization.
As Technical Manager, you will manage the technical lifecycle of the relevant technologies and services. Design, engineer, plan, implement, operate, and support each technology, ensuring they meet business requirements and comply with corporate policy and standards. Provide documented operational processes and procedures for 1st and 2nd level operational support groups, as well as act as a centre of excellence and 3rd level support for the respective technologies. Ensure the respective technologies have optimum capacity and availability to meet the existing and future needs of the business. Manage and minimize risks within the respective technologies.
Responsibilities
- Define KPI’s for the teams in line with departmental goals and objectives. Consistently meet or exceed agreed KPI’s. Ensure all communications, reports and updates are accurate and consistently delivered in a timely manner.
- Ensure technologies comply with corporate security policies and procedures and all audit observations, risks and/or exceptions are identified and positively managed.
- Provide 3rd level support for the relevant technology environment to the Incident and Problem Management teams, ensuring efficient root cause analysis is provided and avoiding reoccurrence of incidents.
- Collaborate closely with all IT teams to deliver products and services that contribute to the organization's growth.
- Set clear and consistent performance objectives, implementing performance management and development plans to ensure standards of performance and productivity are achieved and maintained.
- Identify and develop needed products or services by creating Business Cases, conducting RFT’s, and coordinating with various stakeholders.
- Develop and effectively manage the team and technology budgets, ensuring total cost of ownership is maintained for products and services.
- Work closely with vendor management teams to ensure SLA’s are monitored and contracts are value for money.
- Provide technical consultancy and guidance to the team members and technical manager of other technologies, enterprise architects, and project teams.
- Identify areas of improvement in existing technologies and drive projects through assigned project managers.
Requirements
- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-grade mission critical, scalable technology solutions.
- 8+ years of core technical engineering experience at scale in cloud adoption.
- Familiarity with telephony, networking, messaging, and client-server technologies and architecture.
- Knowledge of operating systems, hypervisors, storage, and backup technologies.
- Understanding of IT security and cyber defense technologies and architecture.
- Experience with database, web, middleware, and integration technologies.
- Background in DevSecOps engineering and Site Reliability engineering.
- Familiarity with observability technologies and architecture.
- Experience in hyperscale hybrid cloud technologies engineering, operations, and architecture.
- Knowledge of container platform and automation technologies.
