About the Job
Amazon launched the Generative AI Innovation Center (GenAIIC) in June 2023 to help AWS customers accelerate the use of generative AI to solve business and operational challenges and promote innovation within their organizations. This center comprises strategists, data scientists, engineers, and solution architects collaborating closely with customers to build custom solutions that leverage the power of generative AI.

Weโ€™re looking for Data Scientists skilled in using generative AI and other advanced techniques to design, evangelize, and implement innovative solutions for unique, unsolved problems. In this role, you will engage directly with customers, contribute to transformative projects and technologies, and innovate within a dynamic organization. You will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments, researching new algorithms, and discovering new methods of optimizing risk, profitability, and customer experience.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with AI/ML scientists, engineers, and architects to research, design, develop, and evaluate cutting-edge generative AI algorithms to tackle real-world challenges.
  • Interact with customers to understand their business problems, aiding in the implementation of generative AI solutions, and deliver briefings and deep-dive sessions to guide customers on adoption patterns and paths to production.
  • Create and present best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog posts, sample code, and presentations tailored to technical, business, and executive audiences.
  • Provide customer and market feedback to Product and Engineering teams to assist in defining product direction.

About the Team
The Generative AI Innovation Center team's mission is to help customers visualize and develop use cases that create the most value for their businesses. This includes selecting and training the right models, navigating technical or business challenges, developing proof-of-concepts, and planning for large-scale solution launches. Additionally, the team provides guidance on the best practices for responsibly and cost-effectively applying generative AI.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree with several years of experience
  • Several years of experience building models for business applications
  • Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, numerical optimization, data mining, high-performance computing, neural deep learning, and/or machine learning
  • Proficiency in Python and hands-on experience building models with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, or MXNet

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, operations research, or a related quantitative field
  • Practical experience in solving complex problems in an applied environment
  • Hands-on experience in training and fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Familiarity with the AWS platform and tools
