Position

Canonical is seeking an Associate Support Engineer to support the technical needs of customers leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. This role is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineer passionate about Linux and open source technologies. You will be responsible for providing expert-level support and troubleshooting for diverse technical problems, including cloud environments, desktop and server issues, and Linux kernel crashes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical support via telephone, email, and web.
  • Acting as an internal customer advocate and ensuring timely updates.
  • Managing cases in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and maintaining high customer satisfaction.
  • Contributing to knowledge base articles and drafting technical notices.
  • Prioritizing work to manage urgent tasks effectively.
  • Maintaining communication with the team and suggesting improvements to service.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university and an undergraduate degree in a technical subject (preferred majors: Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting and knowledge or experience in areas such as Linux server administration, programming fundamentals, networking, and cloud computing concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience supporting virtualized environments (KVM, Virtual Box, VMWare).
  • Experience with other open-source desktop technologies.
  • Active contribution to open-source projects.
