Position

Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems, particularly known for our platform, Ubuntu. The role of Cloud Support Associate Engineer involves supporting the technical needs of customers who leverage Ubuntu and other open-source products. This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer with a passion for Linux and cloud technologies. The successful candidate will tackle complex technical problems, manage support cases, and deliver an outstanding technical support experience across the full cloud technical stack.

The role entails:

  • Providing technical support from your remote home office.
  • Taking ownership of new cases via telephone, email, and web.
  • Acting as an internal customer advocate and ensuring timely updates.
  • Managing cases according to Service Level Agreements (SLA) for maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Contributing to a knowledge base and drafting technical notices.
  • Prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Maintaining communication with the team and participating in a weekend working rotation.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting and server administration.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts.
  • Familiarity with virtualization/cloud technologies and programming fundamentals in any language (e.g., bash, Perl, Ruby, Javascript, C, Go).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to learn quickly and perform well under pressure.
