About the Job:
Our ambition is to set a standard of excellence when it comes to serving the open source ecosystem. This is your chance to be a part of that as a Community Engineer at Canonical. We are building community management at scale and have multiple positions available at different seniority levels.

The role of a Community Engineer involves enabling community leaders and participants to achieve their goals while coordinating with Canonical teams to ensure community processes are efficient. You will play a key role in designing, executing, and scaling initiatives that foster a thriving community. This position is ideal for someone technically proficient who is passionate about open source software, Linux, and sustainable community building.

In this role, you will support community initiatives with technical and organizational skills. You will collaborate with developers to enhance community contribution experiences, represent community interests to Canonical teams, and lead complex, multi-disciplinary programs. Responsibilities include nurturing community contributions to Ubuntu, engaging with the community through various channels, writing high-quality content, and representing Ubuntu at events and conferences.

Location:
Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
Work Conditions:
Full-time, Remote, with global travel 2 to 4 weeks for internal and external events

  • Experience with developer tools and open source projects.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and autonomy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Ubuntu Linux, DevOps, software development, testing and QA, and community management.
