About the Job:
This is a unique opportunity to demonstrate your experience and knowledge of hardware, Ubuntu, and Open Source in general. In this role, you will work with enterprise customers adopting Ubuntu and Open Source on desktop platforms. You will be accountable for delivering exceptional technical support experience on the full Desktop and Devices technical stack at Canonical, from problem qualification to full resolution.

You will provide technical expertise, communicate effectively, and manage customer cases, ensuring that issues are prioritized effectively. Additionally, you will set aside time to learn about new products and technologies and participate in training sessions and team gatherings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply your knowledge of Linux desktop, applications, authentication, and security.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of TCP/IP and wired/wireless networking on Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Server.
  • Act as a technical authority and utilize your experience with popular open-source software.
  • Provide solutions for complex problems and debug Ubuntu Desktop issues.
  • Regularly communicate with the customer team regarding ongoing issues.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Open source experience.
  • Professional support experience with Linux desktop (preferably Ubuntu or other Debian-based distributions).
  • Familiarity with PC and/or laptop hardware and SBCs (e.g., Raspberry Pi).
  • Familiarity with Debian or Snap packaging.
  • Experience with GNOME, GTK, Python, or C.
  • Must be able to speak English fluently.
  • Excellent communication skills and extensive experience in customer-facing positions.
  • High motivation, ability to multi-task, and reliable follow-up on commitments.
  • Ability to travel.
