As a Developer Relations Engineer, you will join a newly established Developer Relations team, focusing on engaging directly with open-source communities and developer-centric organizations. This role combines technical expertise, strategic insight, and strong communication skills. Your mission will be to enhance open-source development experiences and establish robust feedback channels from developers to shape Canonical’s offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to product management team meetings.
  • Maintain ongoing conversations with community developers.
  • Engage across various platforms including IRC, social media, product forums, and meet-ups.
  • Collaborate with various teams within Canonical to solve technical problems.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and create articles, presentations, or workshops.
  • Identify new opportunities to improve developer experience and present them at conferences or technical events.

Requirements:

  • An exceptional academic record and an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, STEM, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as a developer engaged in open-source software.
  • Strong organization skills, self-motivation, and track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Professional interaction with colleagues, partners, and the community.
  • Experience with Linux software packaging (deb, rpm, or snap).
  • Prowess in public speaking and presentation.
  • Results-oriented attitude with a strong personal drive.

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events (up to two weeks each).
  • Additional travel may be necessary for upstream and industry events.
