About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems for the global enterprise and technology markets. Ubuntu, our platform, is widely used in groundbreaking initiatives like public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We are currently seeking Embedded Linux Consultants to enhance our presence in mission-critical sectors such as Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, Telco, and Consumer Electronics.

Candidates should be accomplished Linux professionals passionate about system plumbing and familiar with containerization and system debugging. The role requires a unique skill set combining Linux expertise, coding proficiency, and embedded software development methods. Our field engineers advocate for customers and provide well-informed answers about our solutions and products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage customers during presale processes to gather requirements and explain technology.
  • Develop proposed solutions for prospective clients.
  • Participate in select projects related to Embedded Linux.
  • Communicate market requirements to stakeholders and participate in refining solutions to enhance market potential.
  • Act as a customer advocate and trusted advisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Extensive Linux experience, preferably with Debian or Ubuntu.
  • Solid embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot, or RTOS).
  • Proficiency in at least one of Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
  • Professional written and spoken English, additional local language proficiency preferred for positions in Japan and Korea.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet commitments.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.

Additional Skills (optional):

  • Experience with customer engagements is a plus.
