Position

We are hiring an Embedded Linux Field Engineering Manager to lead a team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services activities, helping customers with solution architecture, design, and delivery. Our Internet of Things mission focuses on enabling companies to secure connected devices. Canonical provides the base Ubuntu OS and kernel, including secure update and management mechanisms for mission-critical systems.

Field Engineers at Canonical are thought leaders in embedded Linux strategy and delivery, with a passion for assisting customers in achieving technical and business goals. They develop their colleagues' understanding of technology and foster personal development. This role requires a unique blend of skills, including a deep knowledge of Linux and experience with boot, BIOS, firmware, and embedded software development methodologies. The successful candidate will appreciate a fast-paced environment, engaging with ambitious technology entrepreneurs while taking pride in team success.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers across Presales and Professional Services.
  • Solve customer problems, promoting technologies as a trusted advisor.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members.
  • Measure team health indicators and implement disciplined engineering processes.
  • Represent your team to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic track record (Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field).
  • Extensive embedded Linux experience (Yocto or similar).
  • Proficiency in Linux (preferably Debian or Ubuntu).
  • Fluency in at least one programming language: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
  • Experience managing a small team and engaging with customers.

Desirable Traits:
Experience with RTOS, additional language proficiencies, and prior experience in a remote-first, diverse company.
