We are seeking an Embedded Linux Field Engineering Manager to lead a team of Field engineers dedicated to Presales and Professional Services activities. This role will encompass solution architecture, design, and delivery for our customers, who require secure connected device solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of Field engineers of varying experience levels
- Solve customer challenges by promoting Canonical’s technologies
- Coach and mentor team members, providing career development feedback
- Represent the team to stakeholders and customers, advocating for great engineering and organizational practices
- Plan and manage progress on goals and projects
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic track record with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Extensive experience with embedded Linux (Yocto or similar) and Linux distributions (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust)
- Ability to manage a small team with proven customer engagement experience
- Fluency in professional written and spoken English
- Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
- Result-oriented mindset with a personal drive to meet commitments
Desirable Traits:
- Experience with RTOS
- Knowledge of additional programming or spoken languages
- Previous experience in a remote-first, distributed work environment
